In relation to the coal slurry pipeline that ETSI is planning to build from Gillette, Wyo., to the Mid-South. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management has started preliminary work on the required Environmental Impact Statement, which is expected to take about 2.5 yr. ETSI will build a coal evaluation plant and conduct a test program, expected to be completed by mid-1981, to confirm the pipeline behavior of specific coals and to optimize process design. ETSI is already negotiating contracts for the 25 million tons of coal expected to be shipped each year.
