Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6326911
The purpose of the study is to sample, test and analyze coal impoundments in Alabama to determine the quantity of coal in place, and the quantity, and quality of recoverable coal in each impoundment. A second objective of the work is to sample the washery wastes currently discharging into the impoundments, and to determine the quantity and quality of coal recoverable. Data are presented on 14 waste coal impoundments with proven reserves of 11,515,373 tons of raw coal from which 4,697,174 tons of clean coal can be recovered. During the third quarter of FY 1981, exploration of 4 of these waste fine coal impoundments were completed. Summary data on these reserves are included. (DMC)
