Membrane CO/sub 2/ separation proves out at Sacroc tertiary recovery project

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:6322445
Membrane separation facilities are operating at both the Sun and Chevron CO/sub 2/ processing plants of the Sacroc tertiary oil recovery project in West Texas. Membrane gas separation at both facilities began in December 1983. The Sacroc project has proven that membranes can be commercially successful for large scale CO/sub 2/ removal. Membranes have a broad range of applications, but each potential application should be studied individually. With membrane technology in the early stages of development, advances in material and module configuration should lead to a wider range of membrane opportunities and more competitive economics.
