LNG report/Elba Island experience smooth startup

The Elba Island Terminal, owned and operated by Southern Energy Co., a subsidiary of Southern Natural Gas Co., is a part of the El Paso Algeria I project. The plant operates as a baseload facility regasifying an average of 320 million cu ft/day. The preparation of the plant prior to delivery of the first LNG shipment is described, including the rigorous quality assurance program developed to assure that all shipment and plant piping has been fabricated or constructed properly; operational testing of the equipment; final preparations for the cooldown of the tanks and the transfer system by using cold gaseous nitrogen and offloading.
