By the year 2000, Mexican gas exports to the US should range between 0.1 and 1.5 trillion CF/yr, as estimated by the A.G.A. This volume would constitute 4-6% of the total US gas supply for the year. In 1983, Mexican gas was 1.5% of total US pipeline purchases, or 71.7 billion CF, purchased at a price in parity with Canadian imports. Total gas reserves in Mexico are 75.4 TCF, or 21% of its total hydrocarbon reserves; current production is about 4.25 billion CF/day, of which 660 million CF is flared.
