Economic benefits of replacing oil imports with North American pipeline gas imports

Journal Article · · AGA Mon.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5865057

US imports of Canadian and Mexican gas, if increased in the next several years to a total of at least 1.0 trillion CF/yr, would back out 500,000 bbl/day of imported oil in stationary applications, claims the A.G.A. Such a substitution would produce a benefit to the US of up to $1.3-$3.5 billion annually in terms of an improved US balance of trade and a stabilizing impact on world oil prices as well as on the US dollar.
