This patent describes an apparatus for mounting an instrument within a tubular member comprising: an elongated body member for attachment to the instrument; fixed contact pad members mounted to the body member; and a pressure responsive slidable contact pad member mounted to the body member, the pressure responsive contact pad member responsive to a pressure increase within the annulus of the tubular member. The pressure responsive contact pad member comprises a base member rigidly mounted to the body member the base member having an inclined plane surface and a generally wedge shaped contact pad member slidably retained within the base member. This translational movement along the inclined plane surface radially displaces the wedged shaped contact pad member.
