Lock for downhole apparatus
This patent describes a lock for a downhole apparatus having an inner tubular member and an outer tubular member in which the inner tubular member is slidably disposed. The lock comprises: a latch member mounted on one of the inner and outer tubular members; actuating pressure communicating means, disposed in the one of the inner and outer tubular members on which the latch member is mounted, for communicating on actuating pressure to the latch member so that the latch member moves towards the other of the inner and outer tubular members in response to the actuating pressure; and latch member engagement means, mounted on the other of the inner and outer tubular members, for interlocking with the latch member when the latch member is moved in response to the actuating pressure.
