Principles and feasible level of intensification of the slot oven coking process

Journal Article · · Coke Chem. USSR (Engl. Transl.); (United States)
OSTI ID:6291972
The results of tests on the intensification of slot oven coking processes is presented. The coking was conducted under pilot plant conditions approaching industrial conditions, and the ovens were constructed with electrical silicon carbide heaters constituting a physical model in the form of a full-scale element corresponding to the industrial ovens in oven width, thickness of the wall lining, heating conditions and heat transfer. It was concluded that the use of new, more thermally conductive and heat resistant refractory materials makes it possible to intensify the slot oven coking process, increasing the coking rate from 27 to 40 mm/h.
