Effect of the solid lubricant on the characteristics of hexanite disks

Journal Article · · Sov. Powder Metall. Met. Ceram. (Engl. Transl.); (United States)

The effect of lubricants consisting of molybdenum disulfide and diselenide and heat treatment on the abrasive layer of hexanite disks was examined. Heat resistance and friction coefficient were determined. Experimental data for grinding R6M5 steel with and without the lubricants were evaluated for the consumption of hexanite-A and for steel surface roughness. Analyses of test results for disks containing molybdenum disulfide and diselenide of various grades showed only a slight effect on the service characteristics of the disks. Results showed that dispersion of lubricants had the controlling effect on the disk quality.
