Thermogravimetric analysis, x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, diffuse reflection electron spectroscopy, and Raman spectroscopy were used to study aluminum-nickel-molybdenum catalysts for hydropurification with different contents of the hydrogenating metals (Ni and Mo) with and without the addition of 5 mass % zeolite HY. The introduction of zeolite was found to give an increased interaction of Ni with Mo with the formation of surface aluminum-nickel-molybdenum aggregates even in the initial stage of catalyst preparation. The surface aluminum-nickel-molybdenum oxides formed as a result of thermal activation at 550/sup 0/C, which are precursors of the phases active in the hydropurification process, have higher dispersion in the ANM catalysis containing zeolite than in these catalysts without zeolite.
