The third in a series of hearings focused on four bills authorizing the reinstatement and validation of leases that had lapsed. The bills, which only address oil, gas, and tar sands leasing, also introduce procedures for reinstatement without new hearings. Further legislation will be needed to encompass all leases under the Mineral Lands Leasing Act of 1920. The eight statements include those of members of the Senate and representatives of mineral companies and the Department of the Interior. Their testimony follows parts of the texts of S. 2503, S. 2680, S. 2681, and S. 2824. (DCK)
