Measurements of morbidity and mortality related to air pollution

Journal Article · · J. Air Pollut. Control Assoc.; (United States)

Periodic peaks in mortality of New York City residents 45 to 64 years of age, as well as those > 65, were associated with high pollutant levels on that same day and usually were associated with low wind speed and temperature inversion. Two symptoms of morbidity, cough, and eye irritation were correlated with pollution (SO/sub 2/ and particulates) in a time sequence analysis with introduced lags of up to 28 days.
