The authors report photoluminescence studies of the diluted magnetic semiconductor alloy Cd{sub 1{minus}x}Mn{sub x}Te for x - 0.05, 0.15 and 0.20, under hydrostatic pressure in a diamond anvil cell at 5 to 100 K. The alloys were p-doped so as to allow a study of the acceptor bound magnetic polaron. They can clearly observe the A{sup 0}x and the e-A{sup 0} transitrons. They study the separation between these as a function of pressure and temperature. The separations increase or decrease with pressure depending on the Mn concentration. They expect mechanisms such as changes in the dielectric constant, exchange integrals and wavefunction overlap to play competing roles.
