In the reaction of 4-methylcyclohexenecarbonyl chlorides with 4-alkylphenyl 4-hydroxybenzoates the corresponding esters were produced. In the transition from 4-methyl-1-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic esters to 4-methyl-2-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic and 4-methyl-3-cyclohexene-1-carboxylic esters a decrease in the formation temperature is observed, and the temperature range for the existence of the nematic phase is extended.
