Superfund Record of Decision (EPA region 2): Combe Fill South Landfill, Morris County, New Jersey, September 1986. Final report

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6281577
The Combe Fill South Landfill site is located in Morris County, New Jersey, 20 miles west of Morristown. The Combe Fill South Landfill was operated for 40 years as a municipal landfill, permitted to accept municipal and non-hazardous industrial wastes, sewage sludge, septic tank wastes, chemicals and waste oils. Testing indicated that the fill material consists mainly of highly decomposed rubbish, and that no hot spots or localized sources of hazardous substances exist. The primary contaminants of concern are VOCs, including TCE, PCE, toluene, benzene and methylene chloride, which have contaminated the shallow and deep aquifers that are the primary source of potable water for local residents.
