Nature of the adsorption products of phenylacetic acid at platinized platinum electrodes

The adsorption of phenylacetic acid at platinized platinum electrodes and the nature of the chemisorbed species on the electrode surface were studied by a new method combining simultaneous sweep and radioisotope measurements. Chemisorbed species were shown to block six to eight platinum surfaces. At higher concentrations species are adsorbed which block only three to four platinum surface atoms. Chemisorbed species were found to bond with different numbers of platinum surface atoms depending on the adsorption conditions.
