All the deficiencies of other methods of dewatering may be corrected to a certain degree if the dewatering is accomplished only by mechanical means, for example by compression of the flotation concentrate or charge after the addition of oil to intensify the process. The positive results of reduced moisture in the charge will be obtained as in drying by thermal means. The main difficulties in using the compression method are related to the necessity of creating significant pressures (up to 1500 kgf/cm/sup 2/) and the low capacity of the existing presses. However, if this method is used to dewater only the wettest part of the coal charge - the flotation concentrate - which comprises only 19.5% at the washeries of coke plants in the Ukraine, and oil is added to intensify the process at reduced pressures, then the compression method is feasible with consideration of the necessity for improving labor conditions and the increasing demand for coke. The possibility of using this method to dewarformance data are presented for the Aylmer annual storage solar heated apartment building and compared with predictions using the hourly computer program. The concept of a lumped thermal network for predicting heat losses from in-ground heat storage tanks, developed earlier in the project, has beethe cased-hole log data from various companies and additional comparison factors were calculated for the cased-hole log data. These comparison factors allow for some quantification of these uncalibrated log data.
