Users now offered insurance guaranteeing energy savings

Insurance to guarantee that conservation equipment customers will receive their promised savings is only available through equipment manufacturers and contractors. The new marketing technique is provided by the Uniguard Insurance Group of Seattle through Markel Service Inc., Richmond, VA and its delegated agents. Users will pay $6 to $10 per $1000 of project cost for the guarantee. Examples of how the insurance works include lease contracts and shared-savings arrangements. (DCK)
