Environmental Impact Determination Submitted to the FEA by the State of California for Approval and Funding under the provisions of Title III, Part C of the Energy Policy and Conservation Act; State Energy Conservation Program

Technical Report ·

A review of California's proposed conservation plan was completed. The impact of the California plan, as a whole, will be - if successful - to reduce the State's 1980 energy end use consumption by 386.71 trillion (1012) BTU; of this, 313.2 x 1012 BTU will be non-electrical and 73.51 x 1012 BTU will come from the electrical sector. Total savings will amount to 542.71 trillion Btu (313.2 non-electrical and 229.51 in fuels used to generate electricity). This, measured against the FEA 1980 baseline projection for California of 6896.58 trillion Btu, equals a 7.7% savings. An additional benefit of implementing the plan is the reduction of environmental degradation that results from the conversion, distribution, and use of energy; a quantified estimate of these benefits is presented.
