Shielded flare gas burner

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6263013
This patent describes a heat and flame impingement shielded flare gas burner in detail. This burner is depicted as consisting of a number of interactive members acting together to make a functional device. The first component of the burner which is described in the patent is a tubular member having a discharge end and an inlet end. Closely associated with this tubular member is an element of the device which is characterized as being an external protective covering formed of refractory material attached to the exterior wall surfaces of the tubular member. It is also indicated in the patent that the tubular member at its discharge end is equipped with a flame impingement shield. In a like manner, the interior wall surface of the tubular member is depicted as also being covered by a protective covering of refractory material. The heat and flame impingement shield mentioned previously is discussed in detail in the patent. Moreover, a pilot flame burner means located within the tubular member and adjacent to the discharge end of this member is described fully. The final component of the burner is characterized as being a conduit which is connected to the pilot flame burner means and located within the internal protective covering of refractory material by means of which it is also shielded from heat and flame impingement.
