Americans For Energy Independence (AFEI) convened a panel of five experts on synthetic fuels for a September 20, 1982 conference. Edited proceedings from the conference argue the separate perspectives of Congress, the oil companies, international concerns, and the Synthetic Fuels Corporation (SFC). The panelists agreed that the US will suffer over the long term if it fails to acquire experience in synthetic fuels by allowing economics to govern energy decisions. The book consists of papers by Senator Domenici, Edward E. Noble of the SFC, Robert I. Hanfling of DOE, and an introduction and conclusion by Daniel A. Dreyfus of the Gas Research Institute. There is also biographical information about the speakers and background information on the AFEI.
