Using the vacuum correlator method the nonperturbative contribution to the {ital P}-wave spin-spin shift {Delta}={ital M}{sub c.o.g.}({ital n} {sup 3}{ital P}{sub {ital J}}){minus}{ital M}({ital n} {sup 1}{ital P}{sub 1}) is calculated. It is shown that the sign and absolute value of {Delta} are very sensitive to the sign and amplitude {sigma}{sub 1} of the nonconfining vacuum correlator {ital D}{sub 1}. If {sigma}{sub 1}{lt}0 then the shift {Delta} is also negative, but if {sigma}{sub 1}{gt}0 we have obtained a positive {Delta}{gt}0 in contrast with the prediction in the framework of perturbative QCD.
