Economic present and future: a chartbook for the decades ahead. [Prospects for 1980--2000 period]
Abstract
A series of charts - graphs, tables, and lists of facts - developed at the Hudson Institute presents a cautiously optimistic view of the economic world of the future. The next 20 years, however, may be a period of malaise in the advanced countries, with the fastest economic growth occurring in the rising middle-income countries. The economic past and future are put in a time perspective which projects the transition from a super-industrial to a post-industrial age by the end of the 22nd Century. The charts include new areas of emphasis, pros and cons of economic and technological growth, and some of the issues facing mankind.
