Study of the absorption of. pi. /sup -/ mesons by /sup 7/Li nuclei

The reaction ..pi../sup -7/Li..-->../sup 3/H/sup 3/Hn has been studied in an emulsion chamber loaded with /sup 7/Li. It is found that the relative probability of this reaction is in the range from (0.6 +- 0.2)x10/sup -2/ to (1.3+0.3)x10/sup -2/. The energy and angular distributions of the secondary particles from the above reaction are in qualitative agreement with estimates obtained on the assumption of pion capture by a few-nucleon cluster (/sup 4/He) in lithium.
