K-shell ionization in the beta decay of /sup 60/Co

The total K-shell ionization probability accompanying the ..beta../sup -/ decay of /sup 60/Co, P/sub K/(..beta../sup -/), was determined from singles and coincidence K x-ray spectra of Ni to be (14.2 +- 1.4) x 10/sup -4/ using a high resolution Si(Li) photon spectrometer. This result is in good agreement with the recent theoretical work of Law and Suzuki.
