Cryoresonance Raman (CRR) leads to dramatic improvements in signal to noise and spectral resolution in the blue copper proteins. A number of the resonance-enhanced modes near 400 cm/sup -1/ in these proteins may be internal motions of the coordinated ligands, including the histidine imidazole rings. This suggests a reinterpretation of the resonance Raman spectra.
