Two identical cylindrical outgoing ion-acoustic solitons are transmitted in a double-plasma device to observe an oblique collision. The colliding angle of the solitons is smaller than the resonance angle given by 2 tan/sup -1/((2deltan/n)/sup 1/2/), where deltan/n is the normalized amplitude of the solitons. Two new waves are observed to form in the region of the interaction. The experimental results are compared with a numerical integration of a modified Boussinesq equation and with a theory of three-wave interaction.
