Title: Oblique collision of ion-acoustic solitons

Identical spherical outgoing ion-acoustic solitons are launched from two separated spheres. The solitons collide in the plane midway between the spheres. The collision is inelastic in that a soliton-like object is created during the collision. Many of the characteristics of the interaction of the solitons are found to be similar to those of solutions to the Kadomtsev--Petviashvili equation. Similar observations were obtained for cylindrical outgoing ion-acoustic solitons and were contrasted with cylindrical pseudo-wave interactions.
