Micellar-polymer flooding projects in the Bradford Field

The paper describes Pennzoil's efforts to recover waterflood residual oil by micellar-polymer flooding in the Bradford field of Pennsylvania. This oil reservoir is on oil-wet, watered-out sand at a depth of 1850 ft. Details of the project operations, performance and evaluation are summarized. It is shown that micellar-polymer flooding can mobilize and recover residual oil from the reservoir studied. The process, trade-named Mazaflood, demonstrated economic potential as a tertiary oil recovery method. 4 refs.
