Cogenic Energy to introduce 15KW cogeneration module

Cogenic Energy Systems Inc. will be introducing a 15 kilowatt packaged cogeneration module for apartment houses and light commercial users by this summer. They will install a prototype of the MR-15 Personal Cogeneration Module at a 28-unit apartment house in New York City. The natural gas-fired MR-15 module will cost about $20,000 and will cut energy costs by at least 30%, paying for itself within three years in avoided steam and electricity costs according to Cogenic. Specifically designed for users with lower pressure steam requirements, the MR-15 can produce about 1000 pounds of steam per hour with a thermal efficiency of about 80%. Electricity produced by the MR-15 will typically be used for lighting common areas such as hallways, lobbies, and parking lots.
