Discussion of terminal facilities for western coal slurry pipelines

A discussion is presented of terminal facilities of western coal slurry pipelines, based on experience with the Ohio and Black Mesa pipelines as well as detailed planning and testing for a proposed 1000 mile system from Wyoming to the mid-south area, covers factors affecting the economics of the pipeline terminal processes; the feed terminal, the product that it must produce, and the reasons for coal cleaning; and the delivery terminal, various methods of dewatering the coal, and some innovative ideas on bunkering the dewatered product and storing the dewatered coal in large outdoor piles.
