Maritime aspects of producing products at OTEC (Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion) plants at sea and delivering them to the United States

The design of a 313 ton/day OTEC ammonia-plant ship has been developed in sufficient detail to show that it could be built and launched from existing shipyard facilities for development at tropical ocean sites. Extrapolation of the cost estimate for this plant to a unit of commercial size indicates that ammonia could be produced at a delivered cost appreciably lower than that now charged. The development of OTEC plants for other products also appears economically attractive.
