We must come to grips with the problem of maintaining source code for a variety of computers. Ideally, we would like to maintain ONE set of source code on the VAX in a scattered form (one subroutine per file). We could then use the GRIPS program to produce other sets of source code for other computers such as the SCS-40, Crays, IBMs, and PCs. This paper describes the execution of GRIPS and the format of the directives.
