Hybrid quark model of. lambda. nonmesonic decay in nuclei

It is shown in the hybrid quark-two-baryon model of a ..lambda..N cluster in nuclei that the short distance, six-quark part dominates the nonmesonic decay. For a six-quark probability of 15% for a nuclear cluster the nonmesonic lifetime is tau/sub ..lambda..//sup NM/roughly-equal(1/3)tau/sup free/, which is consistent with present experiment.
