This report is one of the disposal alternatives chosen for detailed analysis, thus, the contents are preliminary until the record of decision is received. The Hanford Site transuranic wastes and waste sites included in the scope of this report are the post-1970 retrievably stored and newly generated solid TRU wastes, the pre-1970 TRU buried solid waste, and the transuranic-contaminated soil sites. This report identifies the resources and facilities needed to implement the Rockwell Hanford Operations WIPP certification program and provides a plan for retrieval, processing (if necessary), and certification of retrievably stored and newly generated TRU solid wastes. Current strategies and schedules for work off of the waste and shipment to the WIPP are provided. Detailed descriptions of TRU wastes currently stored and those wastes projected to be stored at the Hanford Site are also presented. Plans for in-place stabilization and disposal of pre-1970 TRU buried solid waste and TRU-contaminated soil sites are presented. 6 refs., 12 figs., 22 tabs.
