Meeting the President's challenge: Wetlands action plan, 1990

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:6205647
Recently, the President challenged the nation to achieve the goal of no overall net loss of wetlands in the United States. That challenge has generated considerable activity at all levels of government. The Department of the Interior has initiated a broad-based effort to address wetlands issues and work towards the President's goal. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Wetlands Action Plan (Action Plan) was prepared in response to the President's goal of no net loss of wetlands. The purpose of the Action Plan is to consolidate and facilitate coordination of the Service's existing wetland programs to contribute to the President's goal of no net loss of wetlands. The section recognizes the Service's long-standing mission as a steward of wetland resources as it relates to the President's goal of no overall net loss of wetlands. The Action Plan emphasizes achieving the President's goal through a coordinated effort within the Department of the Interior, and in cooperation with other agencies, States, Tribes, local governments, and private organizations and individuals.
