Research in the area of fossil energy extraction chemistry and geochemistry is discussed herein. Most of the material presented in this book was included in papers in a symposium entitled Chemical and Geochemical Aspects of Fossil Energy Extraction at the Second Chemical Congress of the North American Continent, Las Vegas, Nevada, August 26-28, 1980. The contents of the book are divided into 4 sections entitled: Petroleum, Coal, Oil Shale, and Geothermal. Separate abstracts have been prepared for 14 of the 15 chapters. (BLM)
