Decay of the phi meson into an eta meson and an electron-positron pair has been observed in an experiment with the neutral detector at the VEPP-2M storage ring. The measured decay probability is (1.3/sup +0.8//sub -0.6/)= x 10/sup -4/ and agrees with the calculated values.
