Hadron elastic scattering and diffraction dissociation at high energies and small momentum transfer

We have measured the small Vertical BartVertical Bar elastic and diffractive cross sections of hadrons on protons at 100 and 200 GeV/c. Both the elastic and inelastic data display a simple exponential t dependence. The diffraction cross sections vary predominantly as 1/M/sub x/ /sup 2/, decrease slowly with s, and agree well with factorization rules.
