Short contact time fluid catalytic cracking process

Patent ·
OSTI ID:6190690
A fluid catalytic cracking process comprising the steps of: (a) passing hydrocarbon feed and catalyst into an upstream end of an elongated tubular riser; (b) upwardly discharging the mixture from a downstream end of the riser into a deflector baffle; (c) downwardly deflecting the discharged mixture; (d) injecting stripping gas from outside the disengaging vessel directly into the first stripping zone; (e) stripping the downwardly deflected catalyst in the first stripping zone by contact with a stream of the stripping gas on trays located within the first stripping zone to produce a stripped vapor stream; (f) passing the stripped vapor stream through a conduit; (g) separating a portion of catalyst from the stripped vapor stream in the cyclone to form a separated catalyst stream and a vapor product stream; (h) passing the vapor product stream from the cyclone through a cyclone overhead conduit directly into a closed conduit; (i) passing a disengaging vessel vapor stream through an annulus defined; (j) combining the disengaging vessel vapor stream and stripped vapor stream in the closed conduit to form a combined vapor stream; (k) passing the combined vapor stream through the closed conduit directly to outside the disengaging vessel atmosphere; and (l) passing the stripped catalyst stream from the stripping vessel to a second stripping zone located within the disengaging vessel and below the first stripping zone.
