The reaction of the diphenylacetylene carbonyl-substitution product of (CpRu(CO){sub 2}){sub 2}, specifically, (Cp{sub 2}Ru{sub 2}(CO){sub 2}({mu}-CO)(PhCCPh)) (1) with the cyclopolyarsines cyclo-(AsMe){sub 5} and cyclo-(AsPh){sub 6} have afforded monoarsinidene (RAs) products by displacement of diphenylacetylene. These products are structurally related to the supposed structure of the cis isomer of (CpRu(CO){sub 2}){sub 2} in which one {mu}-CO ligand has been replaced by a {mu}-AsR ligand to form ((CpRu(CO)){sub 2}({mu}-CO)({mu}-AsR)). The R = Me (2) and Ph (3) products obtained from 1 have been crystallographically characterized. Compound 2: orthorhombic, Pnma, a = 16.170 (4) {angstrom}, b = 14.658 (3) {angstrom}, c = 6.309 (1) {angstrom}, V = 1495.3 (6) {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z = 4, R(F) = 2.84%. Compound 3: monoclinic, P2{sub 1}/c, a = 8.241 (3) {angstrom}, b = 27.930 (10) {angstrom}, c = 7.925 (3) {angstrom}, {beta} = 96.64 (3){degree}, V = 1811 (1) {angstrom}{sup 3}, Z = 4, R(F) = 3.02%.
