Electron antineutrino spectrum for /sup 235/U(n,f)

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev. Lett.; (United States)
The nu-bar/sub e/ spectrum has been computed for fission-product decay following a 30-d irradiation of /sup 235/U by thermal neutrons. Estimated uncertainties lie in the range (7--15)% for E/sub nu-bar/<6 MeV. Analysis relied on comparisons of calculated ..beta..-ray data with recently obtained experimental ..beta..-ray spectra. The nu-bar/sub e/ spectrum is softer than all other calculated nu-bar/sub e/ spectra. Cross sections (10/sup -44/ cm/sup 2//fission) were calculated as sigma(nu-bar/sub e/+p..-->..n+e/sup +/) = 58 +- 3, sigma(nu-bar/sub e/+d..-->..n+p+nu-bar/sub e/) = 2.7 +- 0.2, and sigma(nu-bar/sub e/+d..-->..n+n+e/sup +/) = 1.04 +- 0.13.
