Simple description of the dependence of the fission barriers and the ratio GAMMA/sub n//GAMMA/sub f/ on the nucleonic composition for transuranium nuclei

A simple phenomenological model is used to obtain a quantitative description of the main characteristics of the fission probability of the transuranium nuclei with Z> or =92 (the heights of the maxima of the two-humped barrier E/sup A//sub f/ and E/sup B//sub f/ and the ratio of the average neutron and fission widths GAMMA/sub n//GAMMA/sub f/) as a function of the nucleonic composition of the nucleus. Difficulties in the simultaneous description of the investigated characteristics are discussed for the light (Z<92) and heavy (Z> or =92) actinides.
