The authors investigate pyrocarbon formation resulting from the combustion of mixtures of methane and acetylene with argon and hydrogen. The comparative pyrocarbon production and deposition rate for the various mixtures at varying quantities is assessed. A mathematical model is presented and evaluated against the experimental results.
