Solid-state automatic provers with built-in continuous temperature compensation enables Public Service Electric and Gas Co. to prove meters consistently to an sccuracy of +-0.25% in a shop with normal air conditioning the with minimum time for meter tempering. Other advantages provided by the solid-state prover in a large-scale proving shop are that the test stand and controls plus accessory equipment form a compact arrangement which takes a minimum of floor space, the lack of moving or fragile parts affords greater reliability and simpler packaging, and plug-in circuit cards with circuitry for such functions as run rate offer ease of maintenance as well as flexibility in operation. The prover control also offers the option of running a proving-system leak test and a differential test.
