The cross sections for the production of as many as 40 nuclides have been measured for the reaction of intermediate energy alpha particles with /sup 103/Rh. The experimental measurements were done with particle beams of 60, 80, 120, 140 and 160 MeV /sup 4/He/sup + +/ ions provided by the University of Maryland Cyclotron. Cross sections for the radioactive products were determined by gamma-ray spectroscopy using both a small hyper-pure Ge detector and high-volume Ge(Li) detector. Cross sections were measured for silver nuclides ranging from /sup 106/Ag through /sup 100/Ag, for palladium nuclides from /sup 106/Pd to /sup 98/Pd, for rhodium nuclides from /sup 104/Rh through /sup 97/Rh, for ruthenium nuclides from /sup 103/Ru through /sup 94/Ru and for technetium nuclides from /sup 96/Tc through /sup 93/Tc. Production cross sections for /sup 93m/Mo, /sup 90m/Mo, /sup 95g/Nb, /sup 92m/Nb, /sup 90g/Nb, /sup 88/Zr, /sup 88/Y and /sup 87/Y were also measured. The observed yield patterns demonstrated the influence of several processes in nuclear equilibration at intermediate excitation energies. These included projectile fragmentation, pre-equilibrium particle emission, multiple alpha particle emission and the influence of binding energies on enhanced charged particle evaporation. These data are compared with the calculated product distribution of two established reaction models, the ALICE code.
