Historical accuracy measurement of VOC`s in ambient air using compendium method TO14/15: Reference samples, canister surrogates, and greenhouse gases
- Environmental Science & Engineering, Inc., Gainesville, FL (United States)
This paper focuses on the routine analytical accuracy measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) which accompany every batch of ambient air canister samples analyzed in a single laboratory using Compendium Method TO14/15. These accuracy measurements include the analysis of QC reference samples, canister surrogate compounds, and a comparison of concentrations of several greenhouse gas VOC concentrations found in ambient air samples to their known global mean concentrations. Particular emphasis is placed on the laboratory`s program for the addition of surrogate compounds to canisters prior to sample collection. Analytical procedures and parameters are outlined and real world data summaries are presented.
