This progress report will summarize the activities in our laboratory over the past 12 months. Included are what we feel are the most important developments. Three separate, although complementary, projects form the foundation of our research at Virginia: (1) the hollow cathode plume; (2) resonance ionization mass spectrometry; and (3) glow discharge mass spectrometry.
