Conservation of the electromagnetic current of the nucleus and calculation of cross sections for the /sup 3/He(gamma-arrow-right, p)d reaction

We calculate cross sections for the /sup 3/He(gamma-arrow-right,p)d reaction in the photon energy range from the giant resonance to 300 MeV. Parametrized forms of the Faddeev wave functions of the /sup 3/He nucleus for the Reid potential with soft core are used in the calculations. We study the contributions from meson exchange currents (MEC) to this process. Modifications of the MEC due to finite dimensions of the nucleons and due to bounds put by the continuity equation for the nuclear current are considered. Results of the calculations are compared with new data obtained in the electron accelerator at Khar'kov.
